Races
Merfolk
Merfolk are half human half fish, and like the inhabitants of the ocean come in different shapes and sizes. They can be dark or fair skin or any in between. The merfolk are the creatures of legend depicting earth real beauty and they take great pride in their looks and often adorn themselves in fine jewels and shells. Their tails are as useful as they are beautiful and come in a large range of shapes. Their life span is exponentially long however due to this children are rare.
Physically merfolk are daintier then the Adaros however they are quick and able to maneuver in tighter spaces do to the flexibility of their tail.
They tend to be a bit known for hording shinier objects, they value the fine arts over violence however they are not ones to back down from a threat
Adaros
Adaros are half human half shark; their tales tend to be more muted colors and are much rougher then the scales of the merfolk. There fins are firm with little to no flexibility; for the exception of a few species. Adaros however are extremely powerful swimmers, beating the merfolk in speed only in very short bursts and little maneuverability. However the merfolk can maintain faster speeds over longer distances. The Adaros are evolved for hunting; they have a very keen sense of smell and hearing making them some of the best physical fighters around.
Like the merfolk there live expectancy is long; although due to their aggressive nature there not as numerous as the merfolk. Because of this they tend to reproduce more often but there young are cherished and protected fiercely. Many young ones have the issue of overbearing parents because of this.
The Adaros prefer a more practical life style, there shinnies aren’t jewels but weapons. However their metal work is something of an art form in itself.
Cecaelia
Cecaelia are half human have octopi, they tend to be larger in form then there tailed cousins however their lower bodies lack a skeleton allowing them to fit through spaces others might not. They also have the added advantage of having more limbs then most. Causing them to be the masters at multi tasking; which is good because these creatures have very curious minds. They are quick in wit and often can be found playing a game of outsmart anyone else in the room. Cecaelia adore puzzles and challenges, they love gaining and collecting knowledge in general. So you can say Cecaelia are the scholars of the sea; and often the keepers of any lore or history. If you are ever in need of aid a Cecaelia are worth their weight in gold.
Besides being scholars Cecaelia often go towards the medical arts, their capabilities of multitasking making them healers of the highest caliber.
The downside of these creatures is they do tend to be on the shy side, preferring a solitary life style. Cohabitating with their own kind doesn’t usually mix well. So there is no known colony of Cecaelia. But a few more social ones can be found around mer and Adaro societies.
