Caeruleus

Caeruleus is the life force of the sea, it is in everything and anything. From each grain of sand, in every rock, fish, and mammal. Anything that lives in the sea has Caeruleus streaming through them. It causes the tide to rise and sink and the currents to flow from kingdom to kingdom. Without Caeruleus the delicate balance of the sea would fall into turmoil. The use of Caruleus can be used by a select few creatures; it is a rare gift and very difficult to control. If one is discovered with the gift they are usually taken away for special training due to the dangers it posses for both themselves and the people around them.

Caeruleus usually presents itself in a creature at a young age; the ability to use Caeruleus can be passed down through generations or it can appear at random. Families who have Caeruleus running strongly in their veins go to great lengths to keep their family line pure Caeruleus users. For purer lines are held in high esteem and considered better breeders. Mixed bloods are looked down upon as a lower standard mainly because their use of Caeruleus is limited greatly.

The shorter term for Caeruleus is Caeru or in simpler terms magic, it comes in many forms and most only have access it in certain waves. For example if a young merperson were to have the use of Caeruleus in only plant form they would only be able to control aquatic plants. Or if a merperson had an animal strain of Caeruleus they may be able to communicate with the creatures of the sea.
