Winter
INTRODUCTION
NAME: Winter (no known last name).
AGE: 63
RACE: Merfolk
KINGDOM: Erythraeus
DESCRIPTION
APPEARANCE: Winter has long, blonde hair that is usually partially tied so that it doesn't fall into her eyes. Her eyes are the one feature on her face that she actually likes, being big, a deep, depthless blue and framed by long eyelashes. Her nose is what could be described as a 'slight button-nose', being slightly upturned. Her mouth is not wide, and her lips are naturally slightly upturned at the ends, giving her a look that forever hints at amusement, even when she isn't amused. Winter is smaller than most merfolk, though due to her upbringing, she is not weak at all, and her arms, though thin, are definitely not soft like most mermaids, rather, towards the harder side(as a result of her small but strong muscles).
Winter has a large, very noticeable scar that stretches over the left side of her ribcage. It is a result of earlier in her life, when she ended up getting caught in a strong current and thrown against some sharp rocks. She is not ashamed of her scar, or any of the less visible, smaller ones she has, believing that each scar tells a unique story, though others mock her for it, saying it disfigures her.
Winter loves the colour of her tail; for it is actually two colours. It starts off at her hips at a light, mint green, and slowly fades to a deep, azure blue, to finally, a midnight blue at the tip. It is, like the rest of her, smaller than average, but it is strong, for which Winter is thankful.
LIKES AND DISLIKES: Winter loves, as strange as it sounds, the art of combat, and would have joined the military, if not for her overbearing caregivers. She is also full of curiosity, and loves anything new. She likes testing herself, often to the point of injury. With a taste for adventure and change, Winter loves living in Erythraeus, with the constant stream of new people with stories and foreign items.
Winter dislikes slave traders. And bullies. And basically anyone who tries to threaten anyone else. Being naturally free-spirited, she despises those who strive to take the free-will of others, and shudders at the thought of being a slave. She also dislikes the taste of sweet things. It annoys her when people never stray outside of their comfort zone, and wonders how people could ever be content with such boring lives. She also gets bored to tears with paperwork, and book smarts never was her forte.
PHILOSOPHY: Winter fervently follows three main sayings, the first being "Yesterday, you said tomorrow." This inspires her to try things, and not procrastinate, just give things a go, and if it doesn't work out, then at least she tried. The second saying, similar to the first, is "Today I will do what others won't so tomorrow I can do what others can't." This saying ensures that she challenges herself, always pushing at her physical capabilities, and trying to better herself. The last saying, is "Learning is a gift, even when Pain is your teacher." Her natural curiosity ensures that she is always trying something new, and though not particularly book smart, she loves to learn new practical things, and is never bored. Winter tries her hardest in everything, and doesn't know when to give up. Although she can exasperate her caregivers because of her many injuries. She is quite trusting, though this can be a flaw living in Erythraeus. She is currently a Journeyman, having completed her apprenticeship in the arts of martial combat (as she was not allowed to join the military), and often does jobs alongside military soldiers.
BACKGROUND
HISTORY: Winter has amnesia, and cannot remember any of her personal life before the age of about thirty. This is presumed to be because she got caught in a strong current, and was thrown against some rocks, hitting her head so hard that she lost her memory, and got a huge gash on her side. She was discovered almost dead by a couple of older Adaros, who treated her wounds and cared for her. They asked around, to see if anyone knew her, but when no one came forward, they took her in, naming her Winter, as that is what both her eyes and tail reminded them of. For the first ten years of her life, they treated her like their own, like an Adaros, and her lifestyle was a lot tougher than the average merfolk, but what would be considered normal for an Adaros child. When she was forty, she requested to go and join the military, but they refused, saying that it was much too dangerous for a "dainty merfolk like herself." Eventually, they persuaded her to become an apprentice of martial combat, and she reluctantly agreed, though she personally did not see how it was safer. Having completed her apprenticeship, Winter then started to wander more, even travelling to the other kingdoms, but always returning to her Adaros caregivers.
